Erwin, yes the two are quite different in more ways than just financially. Owning a rental is a type of small business, so you have to think about customers, price, costs, etc. Owning your own home is more emotional and about what you enjoy. Nothing wrong with it as long as you understand how it works and make a conscious choice. My 2 cents, anyways.
