For me there are too many variables to make blanket statements, like some do, that it is always better to rent or always better to own. People need to look at their own situation and think through what makes sense for them. There are good reasons to own, and there are good reasons to rent (as you have shared here). It depends on the details. The important thing is having the financial education to run the numbers and think intelligently about your situation.
