Good discussion. As an American who has spent many years living, working, and traveling overseas I have long known that there is no perfect place. US is good for some things, bad at others. Europe the same. There are places in Africa and Asia that I like better than both! In the end, you need to find a place that works for you. Cost of living is much lower in the US than Europe in general, etc. So it just depends on what is important to you.
