Good read, Brian. Very few people can pick stocks well enough to get rich quick in the stock market. Low-cost index funds are great, but they take time and consistent contributions to build wealth. I do some stock investing, but my preferred asset is real estate. I have found it is much easier for me to get > 20% returns in simple single-family rentals (before the recent anomaly in massive appreciation). It takes more knowledge and work than index-fund investing, but I find it much easier to beat the S&P 500 in real estate than picking individual stocks. I also get some cash flow, which helps as well. It didn't happen overnight, but after 10 years, the results are definitely solid.
