Interesting perspective, but I think there is more to this story. I beleive people buy bitcoin because they don't know how to invest, and they hope to get rich without taking the effort to learn more about real estate or the stock market. When you buy something that doesn't produce any cash flow and hope that someone else will come along and buy at a higher price, you are speculating, not investing (yes, gold and currency are speculations, too). That's ok to do as long as you understand and respect the inherent risks involved, don't use leverage, and only buy what you can afford to lose.

Bitcoin may go up, or it may go down. As you said in the title, you are buying on hope, not on evidence or knowledge about how the future will play out. When you buy investment real estate or a partial ownership of a business (as stocks are), then you can predict your cash flow stream into the future with some certainty. The price is based on the cash flow generated, not on the hope that someone else will like it more than you in the future.

Bitcoin is gaining wider adoption, and that is leading to higher prices. But it is not a given that it will dominate our lives in the future. Another coin (stable coin) will be needed for transactions as BTC has become a store of value, although still too volitile to be of much use in that respect, another coin could replace BTC, governments could outlaw and confiscate it, etc, etc.

To me, you would be better off learning about investing in real estate and the stock market, or starting a business. You can put some money in Bitcoin or Dogecoin if you think it has a shot, but realize you ARE gambling and may lose it all. It can be fun and exciting, but it isn't a good way to prepare for your future financial needs.
