Kareem, yes that is a potential risk, similar to buying and owning the stock. Hopefully the issue is temporary, and you can just hold through the problems.

Also, I sell puts with around a one month expiration to help mitigate any major market movements, etc. You get less premium for short periods, but there is less risk that the market tanks.

It is also always good to ease your way into a stock position, rather than throw everything in at once. That way if the price continues to fall, I can sell puts the next month at a lower strike price and work to lower my cost basis.

Very different from options trading, because in the end, I'm looking to own stocks, so not so worried about the value of the option (other than as a sell decision if the premium is worth the capital at risk).
