Mike, good points. No simple equation can capture all the complexities of life. It's more of a guideline / approximation that works quite often, but not for all cases. I went through a time where my salary doubled, so my wealth took a couple of years to catch up to the formula, but after a while it did. I hope no one takes a pay cut just to look better against a simple formula!
