Thanks for reading and for your comment. You bring up an interesting point. Since I was comparing a 3 bedroom rental vs. a 3 bedroom purchase, I was assuming it was a family. I have 4 kids, so a 3 bedroom is actually small for us. If you can live in a 3 bedroom rental, then purchasing a 3 bedroom house will be much more expensive comparatively than what was given in the article. But of course, you could offset some of that expense with renting out the rooms, as you mentioned. I'm not familiar with the rental rates on rooms in houses to know how it would compare with just staying in the 1 bedroom and buying a small investment property.
