The Secret of Wealth
Wealth inspiration part 9.
Wisdom can often come in small packages, and wisdom about building wealth is no different.
Today’s quote is from Henry David Thoreau, the famed author:
“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.”
Most people associate money with wealth. But money itself is not important, it is what you can do with that money that matters.
For me, money = freedom. Freedom to control my time, freedom to be with my family, freedom to work on projects that have meaning to me.
Some people can be wealthy with a small amount of money. This is what the FIRE movement is famous for, leaning to live on $30,000 per year so they can be wealthy much sooner in life.
Other people, myself included, want to have a bit more to live comfortably plus be able to travel and otherwise experience life.
But it has never been about the money. I don’t need billions of dollars to be wealthy.
I just need to be free from the shackles of a wage so I have time to do what matters.
What does being wealthy mean to you?
