Wisdom can often come in small packages, and wisdom about building wealth is no different.

Today’s quote is from Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States. Franklin was a successful businessman, having started a success ful printing firm, and retired wealthy at the age of 42 to pursue science and politics.

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

Before you can hope to make money investing, you have to be willing to put in the effort to learn about what you are doing.

Jumping into something that you don’t understand is a good way to get burned.

So take the time to educate yourself here on Medium, through books and other media to get the knowledge you need to be successful.

Then you have to put that knowledge to use by practicing what you have learned, as you cannot fully understand something until you do it yourself several times.

Find what interests you and for which you have some aptitude.

Use FOCUS (follow one course until successful) to get good at what you are doing before branching out to try other things.

You should find that you get better and better and that your knowledge and experience are paying better and better interest.

After struggling to build wealth early in my career while following traditional financial advice, I set out on a path to learn about investing. Over a decade later, I’m financially secure and working towards full financial independence through real estate and the stock market. I have succeeded in building my financial ark to help me weather whatever storms may come.

I founded Building Arks to help busy professionals like you ignore mainstream advice and build real wealth.
