Wisdom can often come in small packages, and wisdom about building wealth is no different.

Today’s quote is from Grant Cardone, the sales coach, real estate investor, and founder of Cardone Capital:

“I didn’t buy my first luxury watch or car until my businesses and investments were producing multiple secure flows of income. I was still driving a Toyota Camry when I had become a millionaire. Be known for your work ethic, not the trinkets that you buy.”

One book that forever changed my view on money was “Stop Acting Rich” by Thomas J. Stanley, more famous for his earlier book, “The Millionaire Next Door”.

Stanley was an academic who researched the wealthy in the US.

I like his work because he shares with you actual data from millionaires all across America, how they made their money, what schools they went to, and what cars they drive.

It’s not just conjecture or “I know this rich guy who…”

This data taught me several things:

  • what we see on TV and in movies are the uber-rich movie stars…
