Wisdom can often come in small packages, and wisdom about building wealth is no different.

Today’s quote is from Warren Buffett, the famed investor:

“Predicting rain doesn’t count. Building arks does.”

This is one of my favorite quotes, as you can likely guess from the name of my business, Building Arks.

It seems easy for people to “know” or “predict” the future sometimes.

“I knew oil would go up.”

“I knew the market would drop.”

“I knew that company would have layoffs.”

But this kind of flippant knowledge, without action, is meaningless.

The future is uncertain, and all kinds of things might happen. Guess often enough and you will be right some of the time.

What really matters is not being able to predict the future, but being prepared for the various outcomes and making large bets when the odds are in your favor.

My financial philosophy is that everyone should work towards being independent of a paycheck. That way, rain or shine, employed or laid off, you are in good financial shape.
